Darford Pet Food November 2011

Darford’s Custom website design and CMS

If you love dogs you have to check out the new Darford website – a new website from Spincaster that reflects the character and vision of this local Okanagan pet food manufacturer. Taking a different approach that grouped visitor’s interest into three main categories; Products, Community, Culture -Darford provides a site structure that allows you to surf the site, learn more and become engaged in their Plus One Movement. This is a Darford initiative to provide free meals to dogs in animal rescues and shelters across North America. The website features lots of cool drawings, stories, nifty widgets, jokes and videos.
Let’s look at a few sections.

Community – at the core of Darford is a genuine commitment to dogs and all that they offer to humanity. The Community section captures this and hopes to inspire and engage users to become more involved in dog rescues and shelters. There are great stories about rescued dogs, fun features, videos and links to Youtube, Facebook and Twitter for the Darford team. The request to donate to the Plus One Movement is central to the purpose of this page which demonstrate the results that can be achieved through a collective effort.

Culture – a great section on Darcy Bomford the owner of Darford pet food and what a great place it is to work and play. This page features a cool timeline, fun Dogmas, team photos and videos. After spending a few minutes you really appreciate the culture and purpose this company has.

Products – well nothing would be possible without Darford’s great pet food and treats. After 25 years the dogs just keep coming back for more wholesome organic goodness. There is a lot of product knowledge here with details on every pet food and treat, store locations, and a quick reference guide on what to look for based on the dog’s health needs. This page along with the other section pages required some fancy custom controls in the content management system. This custom software was developed and added to our Caster management systems.

It was a great experience working with Jessica, Darcy, Al and others at Darford and we look forward to supporting and helping with their online marketing and software needs in the year ahead.  To learn more about Darford’s Plus One Movement, and how you can help feed dogs in need, visit the ilovealldogs.org website or watch the video on the Darford site about the LA Rescue story and the motivation behind this great humanitarian effort. “Visited your new website yesterday, and wanted to share how impressed I was with it.  Clearly a lot of time and effort went in to making it dynamic and user friendly. I was most affected by your video.  Anyone viewing this should get a real sense for what you and your company strive to achieve and represent in the community. Kudos to the team that created this.”  Angela
